"No worker should use colours, firecrackers, there should not be any indiscipline in the excitement of a victory": RJD Warns Supporters

The Rashtriya Janata Dal — which most exit polls expected would win a majority in Bihar's just-concluded assembly elections — warned its staff and supporters to preserve discipline on the count day, regardless of the outcome of the election. In a tweet today , the group argued that there should be no use of firecrackers or rowdy conduct and that civility must be upheld against rival parties.
"On November 10, the counting of votes will take place. Whatever the outcome, we have to behave well, keep the peace. No worker should use colours, firecrackers, etc. There should be no indiscipline in the excitement of victory," read a rough translation of the party tweet in Hindi.
In a second tweet, the RJD asked its staff to bear in mind that regardless of the outcome, "Public upliftment and people's comfort are at the core of your agenda."
The party's warning note comes in the wake of the campaign of the ruling alliance of Nitish Kumar and the BJP, which held the spotlight on law and order issues during the 15-year tenure of the parents of Tejashwi Yadav — Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi.
Lalu Yadav is in jail after being found guilty in a major corruption case involving irregularities in the procurement of animal feed.
Through the NDA movement, several references have been made to the "Jungle Raj"—people have been warned against it and told to expect it if the RJD comes to power.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi named Tejashwi Yadav — the 31-year-old Chief Ministerial candidate of the RJD, Congress and the Left Alliance—"Jungle Raj Ka Yuvraj.
Yesterday, the majority of opinion polls projected that the alliance would gain a majority in the state, staying ahead of the NDA.
A total of opinion polls suggested that the opposition coalition would win 128 of Bihar's 243 seats and the NDA, 99. Chirag Paswan 's Lok Janshakti Party or LJP is likely to win six seats, the math said.
There is a majority mark in the state at 122.
Exit the survey, however, sometimes get it wrong.
RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said the party's own assessment, based on ground-level details, is that it would win more seats than expected in the exit polls. "There's a landslide in support of Mahagathbandhan and Tejashwi Yadav. We're going to win with a two-thirds vote," the news agency Press Trust of India said.
