New Delhi is battling a surge in COVID cases, Amit Shah reviews Delhi situation

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that one of the key factors behind a fresh increase in coronavirus cases in Delhi is air pollution, which is rising in winter. "The key explanation behind the peak in the Covid-19 cases in Delhi is pollution," Kejriwal said at a press conference.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took stock of Delhi's COVID-19 situation following the recent increase in cases in the national capital, officials said.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain and senior central government officials attended a meeting chaired by Shah.
World Coronavirus Update: The worldwide coronavirus case count is 53,719,412. Although 37,488,609 had survived, 1,308,453 had died so far. The US the worst-hit country, has 11,225,518 cases and 249,942 have died of the disease. It is followed by India, which has 8,814,902 cases, Brazil (5,848,959), France (1,954,599), and Russia (1,903,253).
Spike in COVID cases: More ICU beds, testing in Delhi, says HM Amit Shah
To counter the recent surge in coronavirus cases in Delhi, the Center declared on Sunday that it will soon make available 300 additional ICU beds and double the number of regular RTPCR tests in the national capital.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that some of the hospitals under the Delhi Municipal Corporations would be turned into dedicated COVID hospitals and paramedics will be stationed in the national capital to resolve the scarcity of staff.
Shah said that to save more lives, the Center would also provide oxygen, high-flow nasal cannula and other health facilities to Delhi.
Decisions were made at a high-level meeting chaired by Shah and attended by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, among others.
