LOCKDOWN AGAIN? Delhi plans to impose lockdown in potential Covid-19 hotspot markets

In the wake of the increase in Covid-19 cases in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is mulling to close down markets if there is a major breach of Covid-19 safety levels. Addressing today's press conference, CM Kejriwal said that his government will submit a request to the Center in this regard.
"Will submit a request to the central government for approval to shut down markets that have the ability to become Covid's 19 hotspots," said the Chief Minister.
Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government has sent a proposal to Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to reverse his decision to allow the gathering of 200 people at marriage ceremonies and to limit the number to 50 now.
Kejriwal said that the Delhi Administration, the Center and all agencies are making 'double efforts to monitor the situation of COVID-19 in the national capital.
"I refer to the folded hands of Delhiites to wear masks and obey the rules of social distancing," said CM Kejriwal.
With Delhi seeing a fresh rise in the number of COVID-19 incidents, the Center declared on Sunday a series of steps, including the availability of 300 additional ICU beds, doubling the number of daily PCR tests and house-to-house surveys in the national capital.
The declaration was made after an emergency meeting attended by Shah and Kejriwal.
The Home Minister emphasised that the whole package of containment measures adopted earlier should be reviewed on an ongoing basis so that there are no loopholes in execution.
