Anantnag was shutdown for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday to mourn the killing of a youth, Rouf Ganai, a native of Anchidora. He was killed in cross firing during clashes at Chowgam village in Devsar area of Kulgam district. He received a bullet wound in his neck and died on the way to the Srinagar hospital on Saturday.
Meanwhile, police raided the houses and took several youths for the investigation in Anantnag town during night raids. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat president Ashiq Hussain Narchoor is also among the detainees.
All the shops and other business establishments are shut in the main town while traffic is thin on roads. Few incidents of stone pelting are also being reported since morning.
