Activists of pro-Kannada organisations staged a protest throughout Karnataka against the screening. Kaala has become the first Indian film to release in Saudi Arabia. Black Panther was the first film to release in Saudi Arabia after 35 years. Saudi Arabia was screening films earlier, but films were later banned due to strict Islamic laws. Now, after the ban lift, Kaala has become the first Indian film to release in the country. Kaala is about a gangster, who fights to secure the rights of his people in the movie. The film has Eswari Rao, Huma Qureshi and Nana Patekar in the key roles roles.
