Bhaiyyu Maharaj commits suicide, ‘stressed out, fed up’ said his death note Popular spiritual leader Bhaiyyu Maharaj, who was close to some of the country's top politicians and celebrities, on Tuesday, committed suicide at his ashram in Madhya Pradesh by shooting himself. Reports say that he locked himself inside his daughter’s room around 12.30pm and shot himself on the right side of his head. “On hearing the gunshot, servants broke open the door to find him slumped on a bean bag with his licensed revolver lying nearby,” the Deputy inspector general (DIG) of Indore Harinarayanchari Mishra said. "The country has lost a person who was a confluence of culture, knowledge and selfless service," said Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He had offered a government role to Bhaiyyu Maharaj but refused to take it up saying "a post has no importance to a saint". The Police told the media that they recovered a two-page suicide note in which Bhaiyyu Maharaj talked of being “stressed out” and “fed up”. The investigation also revealed that growing differences between his 18-year-old daughter and second wife could have driven self-styled spiritual leader Bhaiyyu Maharaj to commit suicide. Last year, Bhaiyyu Maharaj married Ayushi Sharma, a doctor after his first wife died two years ago. “We have indications that there was an animosity between Kuhu (also known as Kalyani) and Dr. Ayushi and it might be the reason behind the suicide,” Indore’s deputy inspector general of police Harinarayanachari Mishra said. However, Mishra also added that the evidence was not conclusive and police were investigating other aspects as well. In order to prove if anyone was blackmailing a senior investigating officer in the case said that he or she have seized Bhaiyyu Maharaj’s mobile phone, tablet, and computer. "We are sad. Why did he have to commit suicide? A probe is necessary. We don't know what happened," said another spiritual leader from Madhya Pradesh.
