In 1999, he was an election contestant from the BJB College. After that, in 2004, he joined NSUI as the State Secretary. During this time, the Congress Party's great campaign was very active.During 2004 assembly elections, Abhishek was actively involved in Congress election campaign in the Titlagarh Legislative Assembly under the Bolangir Lok Sabha. He led his mother Cuttack Sadar Vidhan Sabha Election Campaign in 2009. Further, he became the IYC Coordinator in Tumkur and Karnataka in 2011. After that, he stayed as the state coordinator and head of social media department from 2015 to 2017. Abhishek is also a PCC member. At present Abhishek is in the state coordinator of the Orissa Congress and the Social Media Department.Abhishek Mahananda completed his graduation in BBA from BJB college and completed his schooling from DM School, Bhubaneshwar. He received MBA degree from IILM College. After that, Abhishek has worked with many corporates , he was a Credit-Risk Officer for Citi Group,also Credit and Risk Officer in Future Group and Manager and Business Analytics in Bajaj Finance Limited.

 

If we talk about Abhishek Mahananda's political and family background, then Abhishek Mahananda's grandfather, Mr Achyutanand Mahananda was former Cabinet Minister and former legislator of Bolangir and Losimha, Kantabangi, Titlagarh. At the same time Abhishek Mahananda's maternal grandfather, Dr Harakrishna Mallik, who also hails from cuttack was a  former Rajya Sabha MP and Chacha Hrishikesh Mahananda was a MP for the Lok Sabha -1962-67, While his mother Mrs Ashima Mahindaanda is the former Congress President of All India Women Congress and former Congress President of Odisha Women's Congress. Hence, Abhishek Mahananda has seen Odisha’s politics very closely which will benefit Abhishek Mahananda in these assembly elections. Abhishek Mahananda's father's name is Bijay Kumar Mahananda and mother's name is Ashima Mahananda and his wife name is Pooja Arora Mahananda. Abhishek and Pooja have a daughter named Ashima Mahananda. Abhishek, belongs to  Scheduled Caste community , who is highly educated , qualified and experienced. In this assembly elections, Abhishek Mahananda has been declared as the Congress party's candidate from Cuttack Sadar assembly seat. As for now, the battle for this seat has become very exciting.
