Beats has officially unveiled the Powerbeats Pro 2, an upgraded version of its popular ear-hook wireless earbuds. Priced at $250, the new model introduces a range of improvements, including Apple’s H2 chip, active noise canceling (ANC), a built-in heart-rate sensor, and a more compact, lightweight design.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 are 20% lighter than their predecessor, making them more comfortable for extended wear. The redesigned ear hooks use a flexible nickel-titanium alloy, ensuring a secure yet adaptable fit for different ear shapes. The earbuds themselves are smaller, contributing to a more ergonomic feel, while maintaining the signature over-ear hook design for added stability during workouts and everyday use.
One of the major improvements is the redesigned charging case, which is now 33% smaller and supports wireless charging— a first for Beats earbuds. The battery performance has also been enhanced, offering up to 10 hours of continuous listening, or eight hours with ANC enabled. With the charging case, users can get up to 30 hours of total battery life, ensuring all-day usage without frequent recharges.
Powered by Apple’s H2 chip, the Powerbeats Pro 2 deliver enhanced sound quality, improved noise cancellation, and lower power consumption. The addition of ANC allows users to block out external distractions, while Transparency Mode lets ambient sounds in when needed. The earbuds also support Personalized Spatial Audio, offering an immersive listening experience tailored to individual ear shapes.
A standout feature of the Powerbeats Pro 2 is the built-in dual heart-rate sensor, which provides real-time fitness tracking. The data integrates seamlessly with health and workout apps like Apple Health, Nike Run Club, and Peloton, making them an ideal choice for fitness enthusiasts. Whether during an intense workout or a casual jog, users can monitor their heart rate directly from the earbuds, adding a new layer of functionality beyond music playback.
While optimized for Apple users with features like Hands-Free Siri, iCloud Pairing, and automatic device switching, the Powerbeats Pro 2 also cater to Android users. The Beats app for Android provides customizable controls, firmware updates, and one-touch pairing for a smooth user experience across different devices.
Designed with an IPX4 sweat and water resistance rating, the Powerbeats Pro 2 are built to withstand intense workouts and outdoor conditions. The earbuds also come with improved voice-call performance, thanks to a multi-microphone system that enhances clarity by filtering out background noise. The physical button controls on each earbud allow easy playback and volume adjustments without needing to use voice commands.
Beats is offering the Powerbeats Pro 2 in four color options: Black, Sandstone, Lava Red, and Ocean Blue. With a combination of premium features, enhanced comfort, and fitness-focused capabilities, these earbuds are set to rival Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 in the high-end wireless audio market.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 will be available for purchase starting next month at major retailers and online stores.
