Once again the deadliest attack in Jammu & Kashmir shook the nation killing nearly 40 CRPF Central Reserve Police Force) Jawans and others got injured. The Jawans were supposed to reach Srinagar before sunset. Actually, they were returning from holiday when a vehicle carrying explosive device (IED) blew up after ramming into their convoy.
A CRPF convoy of 78 vehicles, carrying around 2500 Jawans was attacked at Awantipora in Jammu & Kashmir Pulwama district.
The vehicle used by terrorist was Mahindra Scorpio carrying more than 350 kg of explosives.
The injured have been moved to Army based hospital 20km away from the attack site. The Pakistan based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for this attack.
J&K police have identified the suicide bomber as Adil Ahmad from Kakapora in Pulwama and he officially joined Jaish-e-Mohammad in 2018.
This attack was considered as the worst terrorist attack in Kashmir and the intensity of this attack was even worse than the Uri Attack, September 2016.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that the sacrifices will not go in vain. "The attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs. May the injured recover quickly," he said.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Srinagar to analyze the situation. He also assured that a strong response will be given to the terror attack. "We completely understand our responsibilities... will take whatever action is necessary."
