The Governor administration in J&k on yesterday at midnight announced a relief of 2.5/litre on petrol and diesel to consumers hours after the centre cut price of the fuel by Rs 5. Following the cut in rates by the centre and state Government, Petrol and diesel will be cheaper by Rs 5 from today.   The revised rates of Diesel and petrol are Rs 71.7 and 80.67 respectively. Two National Conference (NC) workers were shot dead and another injured after unknown gunmen fired at them in Habba Kadal area of Srinagar on Friday.   SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail confirmed the deaths of two NC workers in the firing incident.   The slain were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani and Nazir Ahmad while the injured as Shakeel Ahmed Zangoo.   A senior official said that unknown gunmen fired at three NC workers in Karfalli Mohalla today morning, leaving them injured. The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by one of the accused in the alleged Kathua rape and murder case, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation. Lawyer Ankur Sharma and Chandan Sharma, appearing for accused Parvesh Kumar, submitted to the apex court division bench that the Kathua case was not being investigated in an impartial manner fully and, therefore, the CBI should be entrusted with the probe.
